Grant Price – Managing Director

A graduate of the University of Auckland School of Engineering, Grant has been a Director since 1991.  Starting out in manufacturing, Grant held various Manufacturing General Management positions, before becoming embedded in the construction industry.

In addition to the engineering skills Grant brings to projects, through training and experience in professional theatre, forestry, AC equipment manufacture, and unit mass production, he brings a creative diversity to problem solving.

He continues to spend most days ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Grant is currently in a leadership position in the Industry, being on the Board of two industry associations : Climate Control Companies Association ( CCCA), and The Institute of Refrigeration, Heating and Air conditioning Engineers Association ( IRHACE).

Grant has recently been appointed by Specialist Trades Contractors Federation to the NZ Building Research Advisory Council (BRAC).


Neil Kellett - Contracts Manager

Neil joined Heatwave in 2010 after extensive Project Management and Engineering experience in Europe and the Middle East.

Neil ensures that the Heatwave Project Managers are pro-active and focussed in achieving quality, timely outcomes for our customers.

Heatwave provides customers with a strategic competitive advantage through exceptional project delivery on each and every project.

Through Neil, Heatwave raises the bar and sets an Industry standard others can only aspire to.


Peter Lyall – Factory Management

Peter brings broad industry experience in welding, light sheet metal fabrication, and equipment installation to the Heatwave team. He joined the company at start up in 1978 and has been involved in all aspects of the HVAC industry. Peter manages Heatwave manufacturing base in West Auckland.

Three boiler flues that Peter fabricated and installed at the University of Auckland Science Building in 1969 as an apprentice, he supervised the fabrication and refit of in 2004, ……more than 30 years later!      Now that’s customer service!


Garry Edwards– Service Manager

Garry manages the service and maintenance activities for Heatwave Mechanical. This includes breakdown, preventative maintenance, and installation work.

With many years at the coal face, Garry has first hand experience of meeting the demands of clients with competence, and versatility.

Garry leads a diverse group of skilled technicians.


Rondene Downie – Office Manager

Rondene administers,  maintains and develops the Personnel, Financial and Contract reporting systems for Heatwave.

Joining with strong recommendations for diligence, skill and customer service, Rondene is committed to building exceptional relationships with customers, suppliers and employees.

The accuracy of information for both company and customer is a key concern for Rondene in her organisational role.



Heatwave teams are ably supported by well trained Project Management, Engineering and Administrative staff.

Project Managers, CAD technicians, design engineers , fabrication and installation technicians with vast experience in New Zealand and off shore, contribute to the exceptional competency of a flourishing and successful organisation.

Contract Management and Engineering

Joining Heatwave in 2001, from assignments in Africa , Oskar Katai returned the HVAC Industry where his early professional experience began.

As a mechanical engineering graduate with a diploma in HVAC, Oskar co-ordinates the engineering on our construction, ‘design and build’ projects, and product development.

Recognising that a successful project starts with a competent design and estimation, Oskar provides engineering management in the pre-construction, engineering and estimate phase of company projects.
